POPIA and Data Protection Notice

A general POPIA and data-protection notice for personal information processed through Electrical Supply.

This notice supplements the Privacy Policy and summarises the general data-protection principles applied to personal information processed through Electrical Supply. The operator responsible for deciding why and how this storefront processes personal information acts as the responsible party for that processing.

Processing principles

Personal information should be processed lawfully and reasonably, for a specific and legitimate purpose, in a manner that is relevant and not excessive, and with reasonable steps to keep it accurate and secure. Further use should remain compatible with the original purpose unless another lawful basis applies.

Information and purposes

The categories of information and purposes are described in the Privacy Policy. In general, storefront information is processed to manage accounts, enquiries, quotes or orders, communications, security, records, legal obligations and consent-controlled analytics. Providing information may be necessary where it is needed to respond to or fulfil your request.

Operators, recipients and transfers

Authorised service providers may process information for hosting, communications, security, payment, supply or delivery functions. Reasonable steps should be taken to require appropriate confidentiality and security. Information should not be transferred across borders unless an applicable legal basis and safeguards support the transfer.

Participation and complaints

Subject to POPIA and other applicable law, you may request confirmation, access or correction and may ask for deletion, objection or restriction where the relevant right applies. Submit a request through the store’s contact page. You may also have the right to complain to South Africa’s Information Regulator.

Security incidents and updates

Reasonable safeguards are used to protect personal information. Where a security compromise affects personal information, the responsible party will assess and respond to it in accordance with applicable legal duties. This notice may be updated when processing activities or legal requirements change.
